Conversely, a breakout on thin volume is often a classic ‘bull trap’ that lacks the institutional conviction required for a sustained trend.

When conducting your analysis, check the exchange data to see if the activity at these boundaries involved high-delivery percentages or massive F&O turnover, as this indicates genuine interest rather than mere algorithmic noise.

Finally, consider the time dimension. A range that holds for several months is significantly more robust than a zone that persists for a few days. By integrating these factors—frequency of touches, volume, and time—you can assign a ‘weight’ to your technical levels. This allows you to construct a nuanced recommendation where your entry strategy is aligned with the structural strength of the market, effectively managing risk before committing capital to a trade or long-term investment.
