To build a robust model, you must explicitly forecast the change in deferred tax balances rather than using a static tax percentage. By tracking how these timing differences—arising from provisions for bad debts, gratuity, or asset impairment—unwind over time, you gain a clearer picture of the firm’s sustainable cash-generating ability. This granular approach transforms your research from a generic forecast into an institutional-grade investment thesis, ensuring that regulatory shifts and accounting nuances are priced into your recommendation rather than appearing as an unpleasant surprise in future quarters.
