Ignoring this adjustment leads to a massive underestimation of the required corpus, essentially planning for a lifestyle the client cannot afford.

Your professional recommendation must reflect these nominal figures to ensure the client understands the true scale of their investment target.

Furthermore, this adjustment process requires a dynamic approach to portfolio construction. As an analyst, you must decide whether to use a static long-term inflation average or a tiered approach that accounts for potential shifts in consumption patterns. While a flat 6% might serve as a baseline, healthcare inflation in India often outpaces general CPI, requiring a more granular sensitivity analysis in your retirement models.
