For example, if a client writes a Nifty call and the index rallies unexpectedly due to a major policy announcement, the margin calls can be instantaneous and severe.
Assessing whether a client has the liquidity and psychological fortitude to manage these ‘mark-to-market’ swings is as critical as the technical analysis of the index itself.

An analyst must weigh the ‘Time Value’ against the ‘Intrinsic Value’ to ensure the client is not overpaying for a position that has a high probability of expiring worthless.
