If your client is an institutional investor who maintains a highly diversified umbrella portfolio, they might view the Treynor Ratio as the primary metric, as they hold the power to diversify away unsystematic risk elsewhere. However, for a retail client whose entire wealth is concentrated in one or two funds, the Sharpe Ratio is a much more honest assessment of the risk they actually bear.
